airship R100 300
Airship R100 fabric

The R100 was a pioneering airship designed by Barnes Wallace who later went on to create the bouncing bomb of Dambuster fame. The airship was built by Vickers Armstrongs and made it’s first flight in 1929. It made a series of trial flights and flew the Atlantic in August 1930. After the crash of the R101 the R100 was dismantled - our R100 fabric was stamped on the rear as above. The keyring has a piece of fabric encapsulated into its body. The ring itself is sterling silver and the body is metal.

spitfire keyring jpg green 300
Spitfire keyring 2

An historic keyring crafted out of the armoured plating of a Spitfire from the Battle of Britain. RAF Spitfire number P9469 of 222 Squadron was shot down at 4.50 pm on the 7th October 1940. The Spitfire was shot down in combat with enemy bombers and crashed and was burnt out at Baileys Reed Farm, Hurst Green, Salehurst.

The metal used in the keyring comes from the Spitfires armoured plating. It’s has beautiful patterns and pitting which makes every keyring unique. it’s rusty as you would expect and we have treated the rust to contain it and preserve it’s character. The keyring comes with a letter on handmade paper describing it’s origins. The body of the keyring from the top of the nut to the bottom of the base excluding the brass belt hanger is around 2 3/4 inches.  The nut is not original to the keyring.

It’s a big heavy rugged keyring.

It can be purchased either with or without the belt hanger.
